Do you think more watts are enough?

How many times have you heard about luminous efficiency and truly wondered what it means?
It’s one of those concepts that sounds technical… but in reality, it lies at the heart of every correct choice in the world of lighting.
Today, we’ll explore it together.

Luminous efficiency is simply the ratio between the light produced (lumens) and the energy consumed (watts). In other words: how much light you get for every watt you use.
Let’s take a quick step back to incandescent bulbs.
A classic 100 W incandescent bulb produced around 1200–1300 lumens.
If we calculate the ratio, we get about:10 lumens per watt.
A lot of energy consumed, very little light produced.

And today? With LEDs, everything changes.
A simple 5 W LED bulb can produce 500–600 lumens.
The ratio becomes:100–120 lumens per watt.
The result?
We use much less energy to get far more light.
And this is exactly where luminous efficiency comes into play: a value that continues to grow thanks to technological advancements.
The higher the luminous efficiency, the more efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective your lighting becomes.
